Soldiers and deputies from the Catarogos County Sheriff’s Office were called to Ischua Creek under the Elm Street Bridge in Franklinville, New York on Friday, May 13, 2022, to report a shot was fired.
Police say they found the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Craig J. Boback of Franklinville, when they arrived at the scene. According to a written statement from the NYSP, Bubak was “carrying a 9mm polymer pistol, a ‘ghost rifle’, without a serial number on Elm Street Bridge. After failing to comply with orders, Cattaraugus County Representatives directed Bubak that the arrest must be made without casualties.” in spirits.”
Bobke was electrocuted and treated. After treatment, he was brought to the state police barracks in Machias.
According to the initial investigation, police said Bobak “threatened several people in that area and then fired a single shot at a victim.” That shot missed its intended target.
The investigation was assisted by the NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the NYSP Violent Crime Investigation Team, the NYSP Forensic Identification Unit, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cattaraugus County District Attorney’s Office.
Bubac now faces the following charges:
- Attempted second degree murder
- Attempted assault in the first degree
- Criminal possession of a second-degree weapon
The teen was arraigned in Ellicottville Courthouse and sent to Cattaraugus County Jail on $7,500 cash bail or $12,000 bond.
