Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ daybreak update introduces Massive Mass Outbreaks, and new tips are helping players catch Alpha Shiny Pokémon easily.
The Daybreak update for Pokémon Legends: Arceus applied patches and fixes, including the Shiny hunting methods being used in the base versions of the game. Originally, when Mass Outbreak Shiny hunting, players could use a hard save before going to the outbreak, and continuously reload a save and refresh the map by returning to Jubilife Village, to farm Pokémon species being Shiny hunted. Unfortunately, the Daybreak update has removed the refresh of the Mass Outbreak spawns when returning to the village, forcing the Mass Outbreaks to reroll as soon as the player leaves a map area.
However, the Daybreak update also added Massive Mass Outbreaks to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which cause multiple outbreaks to occur in one area of the Hisui map at a time. These Massive Mass Outbreaks have a small chance to produce secondary outbreaks once the first horde is taken out, and that group has a chance to exclusively produce Alpha Pokémon. In a YouTube video shared by AustinJohnPlays, tips are given on how to find these Alpha outbreaks, and how to take advantage of them to produce a higher chance of encountering a Shiny.
AustinJohnPlays details the different methods of Shiny Hunting for Massive Mass Outbreaks in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, showing players how catching and battling Pokémon during the outbreaks differ. When the Pokémon in the outbreak are caught instead of battled, there is a higher chance of another Pokémon identical to those already spawned will appear, providing few Shiny chances. However, battling the Pokémon gives a better chance for unique Pokémon to spawn, including the potential second wave of Alpha Pokémon that may appear after the first wave.
The video also states that this isnt a method that will greatly speed up the Shiny hunting process for Alpha Pokémon, and that the object is to provide helpful strategies. The odds of a second wave of Alphas spawning are still low and require players to grind to encounter them. Additionally, there is no way to continuously reroll a specific horde, leaving players to jump from one species to another instead of focusing on a Pokémon they may truly want to hunt. However, this new Shiny hunting mechanic in Pokémon Legends: Arceus does give players a fresh and challenging Shiny hunt, and will likely provide many with super-sized Shiny companions.
