Donald Harbott, 83, of Thief River Falls died Friday, May 13, 2022 at Altrow Hospital, Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, Minnesota with Reverend Thomas Puffe in charge. The visit is one hour before the service. Burial will be at Emmanuel Cemetery, Willie Township, Red Lake County, Minnesota.

Donald Albert Harbot was born on May 28, 1938, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Alvina (Jeske) Harbot. Confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wylie, MN. Donald attended school in Red Lake Falls, graduating from Lafayette High School.

At the age of 18, he enrolled in basic training for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California. Through many hours of training and many qualifications he became a marine sniper. He served 5 years in the Marines as a Chief Artillery Sergeant and traveled five tours in Afghanistan, Vietnam, North Korea, Japan and China. He lived according to the SEMPER FI motto “Always Faithful” and “Always Faithful”. Donne’s motto was “Restore everyone’s safety, no one will be left behind.”

Don worked at Hartz and continued trucking across America for 38 years. He married Carol Berbrick in 1973, and his daughter, Michelle, was born to this union.

Don love hunting, fishing and watching sports (especially baseball). He had many trophies and won prizes in trap shooting. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Thief River Trap Club, and the Eagle’s Club of Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

In 2005, Don reunited in marriage to Donna Sinnum at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, and the couple continued to reside in Thief River Falls.

His wife, Donna, survived Thief River Falls; Donna’s children, Kevin (Lynn) Sinnum of Russo, MN and Darcy Johnson of Thief River Falls; Donna’s grandchildren, Dustin (Barbara) Sinom, Travis Johnson, Tallinn Sinom, Kelsey Sinnum, Lexi Sinome; Donna’s grandchildren, Max and Aiden; Grandchildren: Nicholas Jack and Lucas Jacob Dahlpol; nieces and nephews of a brother or sister; Mom (John) Schlechtman from Forest Lake, Minnesota, Tom (Andrea) Eckstein from Jamestown, ND, Jeff (Janet) Eckstein from Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Tammy (Mike) Vail of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Don (Marilo) Hoot off St. Cloud, MN, Mike Hoot of Grand Forks, ND, Rodney Hoot of Grand Forks, ND; And many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded by his wife, Carol Berberich, without death. His daughter, Michelle. parenthood; Sisters Marilyn Harbutt, Barbara Hoot and Janis Eckstein.
