Mariposa County Trails Day is coming!

May 12, 2022 – Mariposa County celebrates its trails Saturday 4th Juney At Mariposa Arts Park, everyone is welcome! All new event features are free and outdoors.

More than twenty groups—federal, county, and community—came together to display their connection and support for our trails. Trails are a huge part of our community’s health, happiness, lifestyle, and appeal, and they’re for all of us. This celebration now is a great way to enjoy our renewed mobility and recreation. And we owe some thanks to our favorite paths in this pandemic!

Morning programme:

Starting at 9:00 a.m.: Booths for the Southern Sierra Mioc, Public Health, Department of Planning, USFS/BLM/NPS-Yosemite, Mariposa Trails, Arts Council, Sierra Foothill Conservancy, Audubon, Mountain Bike Club, two equestrian groups, Master Gardeners will present et information. keep it wildwill hold a fee for free kayaking trips on the Merced River, thanks to our local kayaking group: Whitewater Zephyr.

Our speaker program begins at 10:00 a.m. with thirteen participants covering the full range of relevant topics from heritage to health, from indigenous poetry to original music, from safety to maintenance, and from past efforts to planning today. We are exploring the word “trail” in its broadest sense. This event is also part of National Trails Day. Our event will showcase the trails of the Stockton Creek Preserve and the expanding Mariposa Creek Parkway. Water is provided courtesy of the Health Department, and food, snacks, and a Hispanic food truck will also be provided nearby.

Afternoon activities:

After a lunch break (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM) we have eight afternoon activities for a more hands-on appreciation of our trails: Birding, Air painting, Mountain biking, Guided picnic in the reserve, Planning section Range walks (2) , native plants, mule packing (on highway 49 and 10y), and dry hands on the experience of fishing using flies. People can sign up for these activities in the morning at the appropriate kiosk or register online.

And for those who need more, they can stay in Art Park for live music transgressors That evening from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM and/or stop by Grove House on Fifth Street where the Mariposa Pride celebration is scheduled.

Mariposa County Trails Day It is a new event, and we know it will be both entertaining and educational. This is only possible with the sponsorship of the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors, the Upper Merced River Watershed Council, the Rotary Club, our Tourist Office, Sierra Tail Internet, and the significant efforts of our partner, the Mariposa County Council on the Arts. MCAC produces a small book of poems written for the occasion by most younger people and some slightly older people with a passion for trails. This event’s staff are all volunteers of the Mariposa County Trails Day Steering Committee.
