George Lucas’ original plans for the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy

The acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012 by Disney was supposed to be the movie business deal to end all deals, injecting new life into the long inactivity. star Wars universe, where the Mouse House bought influencer George Lucas for $4.05 billion. However, time has shown that star Wars It’s not easy to deal with, as the Disney sequel trilogy fails to capture the imaginations of critics or audiences.

They made a nostalgia trap of their own making, Disney star Wars In a transparent financial exercise over the course of five films, trying to do a little new in the pursuit of box office supremacy. From a useless engraving of the likes of Lando Calrissian in Heavenly Rise For Darth Maul in singleDisney apparently has little idea how to deal with the world they’ve spent more than $4 billion on.

It is easy to forget, ten years after the acquisition of Lucasfilm, that the creative genius behind star Wars The brand included a story and an instruction manual in the deal, detailing how to approach the supplemental film trilogy.

Described in Taschen’s Book Star Wars Archives 1999-2005, George Lucas reveals that his original vision for the complementary trilogy would have focused on Leah Organa, Luke Skywalker’s sister. “The movies are about how Leah is,” Lucas said, adding, “I mean, who else would the leader be? — trying to rebuild the Republic… Luke trying to bring back the Jedi.”

With Leia, played by the late Carrie Fisher, in the driver’s seat of Lucas’ fictional trilogy that never appeared, the director also explained that the films will begin “in a few years.” Return of the JediHe adds: “We have quickly established that there is this underworld, and there are these free-spirited Stormtroopers who started their own planets, and that Luke is trying to restart the Jedi… Jedi must grow again from scratch, so Luke must find two cents and three years, and train them.”

Though, with both Darth Vader and Darth Sidious out of the picture, the very distant galaxy was left completely at peace by the end of the day. Return of the JediWhich is why Lucas also planned the return of the iconic villain.

Using the double-edged lightsaber once more, the trilogy would have seen the return of Darth Maul, along with his student Darth Talon. As the director describes, “Darth Maul trained a girl, Darth Talon, who was in the comic books, as his apprentice. She was the new Darth Vader and most of the action was with her. So, these two were the main villains in the trilogy.”

Casting the likes of Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren, the Lucas trilogy would have taken many risks and looked like a difficult concept to implement, although anything would certainly be better than Disney’s poor approach to the franchise. Unfortunately for Lucas and fans of the director, the director had to step down from the project, wanting to “raise my daughter and enjoy life for a while.”
