Let’s be real here: Indiana isn’t exactly known for its mountains or mountain towns, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t escape to somewhere in-state that FEELS like it’s a mountain town. In fact, we found the perfect little spot for an alpine vacation in Indiana that doesn’t even require you to leave the state! Pretty sweet, right? This stunning, small, private community is built around a gorgeous lake that looks like it could be in small-town Colorado instead of the Hoosier State. If you find yourself in the mood for an alpine vacation in Indiana, pay a visit to beautiful Hidden Valley; More specifically, visit Hidden Valley Lake. It’s all the lush, green beauty of the mountains wrapped up into a Midwestern delight.
It’s a private neighborhood built around a pristine lake that truly looks and feels like something out of a mountain getaway more than an Indiana escape.

The main lake is 150 beautiful acres of clear, clean water, and in the warmer months, you can take a swim in the cool water. There are also six other, smaller lakes in proximity to Hidden Valley Lake.

Watch as bald eagles skim the lake for tasty fish, and maybe try your own hand at fishing yourself. There is plenty of fish to be caught.

Few things are as relaxing as lounging lakeside on the marina or along the shore, digging your toes into the soft sand and enjoying the peaceful, cool breeze as it gently blows, giving the entire area a nice, cool climate even during warmer months.

If you’ve never seen a vivid rainbow burning brightly over a gorgeous lake, this is your chance. Time your visit to be during Indiana’s rainy season (namely April, May, and June) and you won’t regret it!

As a private community, there aren’t a lot of places to stay within Hidden Valley (though you can certainly find some local Airbnbs if you look). Book somewhere nearby and come enjoy the beauty of this crystalline, lush lake and all it has to offer.
So, what do you think? Read more about this beautiful lake in Indiana and then consider planning a trip! What will you do first?
