Mahindra has officially named the upcoming SUV as the Scorpio-N.

Mahindra announced on Friday that it will introduce the new generation of Scorpio in the Indian market on June 27. Dubbed the Z101, the new SUV will be called the “Scorpio N” on the other hand, and the current model will continue as the “Scorpio Classic.”

Mahindra says the new-generation Scorpio has been designed to meet the aspirations of young and tech-savvy customers who need a full-size SUV. It will feature a bold, luxurious design and a commanding leadership position, the company says. The company also teased the model with the “BigDaddyOfSUVs” tagline. Also, the 2022 Scorpio N will be equipped with many modern and advanced features which will be a huge step forward from the current model. “The Scorpio has been an iconic model for Mahindra that has redefined the class and become a premium brand in the Indian auto industry,” says Vijay Nakra, Head of Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. Four-wheel drive in India, once again. The Scorpio-N demonstrates our commitment to bringing world-class SUVs to the Indian market and creating an exhilarating ownership experience for our customers.”

The Scorpio-N will be the second SUV – after the XUV700 – to carry the new logo for Mahindra SUVs. And if the answer to the XUV700 is anything to go by, the company may once again have a potential winner. There was strong demand for the newer Mahindra SUVs such as the updated Thar and the new XUV700 launched in 2020 and 2021 respectively. The wait for the new Scorpio has been particularly long with test mules being spotted repeatedly during a test run.

Interestingly enough, reports indicate that Mahindra will also continue to sell the current Scorpion model. Although all eyes will also be on delivery schedules especially because some variants of both the XUV700 and Thar have significant wait times, in part due to massive demand and also due to supply chain constraints challenging the automotive world in general.
