Auburn – born Albin C. Lisoot, 90, in Lewiston on May 25, 1931, the youngest of three children of Wilfrid and Blanche Liszot. There is a hole in our hearts for the man some of us have referred to as Abby, Gentle Ben, Captain Whitehead, or just Grampa Ben.
In the early morning of May 6, 2022, my father and his family passed away at his side. There was a beautiful sunrise and the sound of eagles was heard and they were seen flying over the river. My dad loved sitting on the balcony for hours watching the eagles.
Ben grew up in Lewiston, where he was educated. On June 7, 1952, he married the love of his life, Marjorie (Marge) Hopkins. After their marriage, they moved to Auburn where they raised their family.
Ben was a painter by trade, best known for his more than 30 years at Bath Iron Works. Ben was a member of the National Guard, and served as a corporal; Also a sharp shooter.
Family means everything to my father. As he always said “I love you more!”
My father enjoyed being outdoors, tending his yard as best he could, and tending to the apple orchard he planted for retirement. He spent many years fishing with his family. He also enjoyed ice fishing, as well as ocean fishing, and always found pleasure in taking family and friends on his boat.
Dad grew up playing sports, including baseball, hockey, and volleyball. One of his greatest pleasures was to attend the sporting events of his grandchildren, and later to attend the events of his grandchildren. Even at the age of ninety he was still attending.
My father is now in a happy place with his loved ones who have passed, especially the love of his life and our mother and brother Tommy.
Among the survivors are his son Marc Liszot, his wife Linda, his daughter Patricia Provost and her husband Patrick. his five grandchildren, Stephen Liszot and his wife Katie, Jeffrey Liszot and his wife Becky, Seth Provost and his wife Trudy, Scott Provost and his notable character Kristaline Phipps, Cory Provost, and his wife Heather; 11 great-grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews. And his best friends Maurice, Claudette Nadeau and Judy Campo.
died by his parents; His wife, Marjorie. Son of Thomas, brother Norman, and sister Yvonne.
