Porsche’s Roof Tent Will Let You Drive And Sleep In A Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo

Porsche is offering an alternative camping experience to anyone that is interested by organizing three-day trips to the Black Forest and the Rhine-Hesse regions inside a rental Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo that is fitted with a roof-mounted tent.

The cost is €2,490 ($2,621) per person and doesn’t require owning a Porsche. This price includes transfer from/to the Stuttgart airport or city centre, the roof tent with blankets, pillows and outdoor equipment, all of your meals (two breakfasts, three lunches, two dinners), and of course the keys to the car for three days/two nights.

According to the official website where you can find the detailed schedule, the Roof Tent Experience is divided into two three-day trips. The first is in the Black Forest region where you will have a chance to drive the electric crossover on winding roads. Participants will enjoy nature with plenty of leisure activities including hiking trails, ziplining, e-biking, SUP, and campfire barbeques. Finally, they will sleep in the roof-mounted tent alongside one other individual (two persons per car).

The Rhine-Hesse trip sounds a bit fancier for wine lovers. The schedule includes fine cuisine from a Michelin star chef, wine tasting, and a guided drive along the German Wine Route with a behind-the-scenes look into the sparkling wine production. Again everything will wrap up inside the roof-mounted tent after some hiking, barbecue and picnics.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo is fitted with a 93.4 kWh battery, while dual electric motors produce 617 hp (460 kW / 625 PS) or up to 751 hp (560 kW / 761 PS) in overboost mode. This kind of power is enough to accelerate the all-wheel-drive crossover from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph).

For anyone that is interested in driving an electric Porsche and then sleeping on it, Porsche has two available dates for the Black Forest trip (May 17-19 and September 6-8, 2022) and one for the Rhine-Hesse trip (May 31 -June 2, 2022).

Each group will have a maximum of eight participants so spots are quite limited. In order to promote the trip, Porsche published a few shots with two influencers – Frederic Siebold and Marisa Hampe – who sampled the experience.
