As Lake Guntersville continues to stand out in front of anglers across the board, Spencer Shuffield put on another stellar day, hitting 19 pounds, 6 ounces on stage on day three to lead the last 10 anglers and advance to the final day of competition at the MLF Pro Circuit event on Lake Guntersville. in Alabama. Sheffield's three-day total of 63-07 was 12 ounces more than rookie Nick Hatfield, who put a 21-15 weight limit on the scale for three days in total 62-11.

Len Olson dropped from second to third with a 19-01 weight limit for three days overall from 61-09, while Owner of the Year (AOY) Michael Neal finished the day in fourth place with a 19-09 max. 61-02 for three days. REDCREST 2022 champion Bobby Lin brought the biggest bag of the day to the stage – 22-09 – for three days from 59-13 to wrap up the top five.

After starting the day at number 32, Brandon Mosley made the biggest move of the day, weighing 20-04 with a 54-07 aggregate to slip into 10th and last place on Sunday’s championship round.

The weights for the championship round will be disqualified and the angler who catches the heaviest five-fish will receive the first prize of up to $135,000.

“I caught an end pretty quickly today, then got off work and ended up finding some good stuff later in the day,” Schofield said. “I had 18 pounds or so and did a team work on a new one I found and caught a 4 1/2 pestle to bring out a 3 1/2 pound slicked-back bass, so it worked out really well.

“Where I’ve been catching my big fish all week, I thought I could win from that place, but after today I don’t think you can win there. In fact, I don’t even know if I’ll try to catch it tomorrow,” Schofield continued. “The second school I found while training had the same potential as that prime spot, I didn’t get a chance to hunt it down because there were two or three other guys around the whole time.”

Shuffield said the fish on the edges don’t seem to want to bite when there are several men catching them, and this is especially true of the bigger bass.

“Today I was able to stand in that second place and no one was on his back,” Schofield said. “The fish were set up just right and they bite almost every mold I threw at them, and there were even bigger fish that followed the ones I delivered all the way to the boat.”

Shuffield caught all of his fish this week on the Duel Hardcore Bullet Crank 7+, and said his last good fish today was caught on the Duel Hardcore Bullet Crank 5+, a new bait that will debut at ICAST later this year.

“The cool thing about this crankcase is that you normally have to have a current on those edges to get the fish to nibble on them, but the way I catch them is forcing them to bite,” Schofield said. “I feel that as long as they are grouped together, current or without current, I can still get them to bite, just because of the way I present it. It’s quite a reactionary deal, they have no choice but to pounce on it, and they eat it well.”

“I would have scored a 4-pound net in that second spot today and there would be six or seven over five-pound increments there,” Sheffield continued. “I’ve left a lot of big companies out there this week, so I’m really looking forward to getting back out there and tending to them tomorrow.”

The last 10 poachers will be released at 6:30 a.m. Sunday from Lake Guntersville State Park, located at 1155 Lodge Drive in Guntersville. Sunday Championships will also take place in the park at 2:30 PM Fans are encouraged to attend the action or follow the live action on the water throughout the four days of online competition on MLF NOW!
