Rushfield Park
300 Key Highway, Baltimore, Maryland 21230.
Baltimore’s newest theme park opened last November in the heart of the Inner Harbor. Kids can climb a pair of 35-foot wooden towers at the Adventure Park, slide on a giant sled, fly on swings, dig into a sandpit, or bring their board and drop it at the skate park.

GO-KART Track

Feel the need for speed? With three different golf courses, a mini golf course (half price on weekdays), and all the classic arcade games, there’s something for everyone here. Kids ages 3 and up can join a driver 16 or older on Family Track, and speed demons of at least 52 inches can drop pedal to medal on the Drift track.

Skatepark Baltimore
1121 West 36th Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21211.
Do you have a budding skateboarder or motorcyclist? Strap onto your pads and helmet and hit this Hampden Hot Spot. It is free and open daily from dawn to dusk. If you need some new grip tape, the Vu Skate store is just off Falls Road.

Eastern Water Sports

You don’t have to drive to Annapolis or Ocean City to get a taste of the salty life. With three locations, two within Gunpowder Falls State Park and two with legitimate sandy beaches, this seasonal store rents kayaks, freestanding paddleboards, and canoes by the hour. Children under 10 can accompany a parent or guardian on a paddleboard or tandem kayak. Children 10 years and older can rent their homes with an adult.

Looking to cool off and pee on a hot day, and no pool membership required? Baltimore is home to several splash pads, including West Shore Park in Inner Harbor, and Mt. Vernon Children’s Park, and The Rotunda. Visit BaltimoreFamilies.org/pools for locations.

Baltimore County Public Library “Anecdotal”
There is more in the library than story time. Located in the Rosedale and Woodlawn branches of the Baltimore County Public Library, Storyville is a play and learning center designed to enhance early literacy and school readiness skills in children ages 0-5. This charming child-sized village features books, games and activities for children and their parents or caregivers.

holland wonderland

This Amish country amusement park is very popular with young families for a reason. The 48-acre layout is accessible, not overwhelming, and the games are geared toward young children. Duke’s Lagoon is a water park within the park that is worth a visit on its own.

Hershey Park
100 Hershey Park Doctor, Hershey, PA 17033.
Thrill-lovers flock to this family-friendly theme park, created by famed chocolatier Milton S. Hershey, which features several rides, including 15 roller coasters. There are plenty of attractions for the smaller group, too. All rides, water park and ZooAmerica are included in one price entry.

Six Flags of America

Six Flags is home to some of the fastest, longest and wildest rides in the country, including the Firebird, which has been described as “America’s only floorless rollercoaster.” Younger children can enjoy at least a dozen games on their own. Admission includes access to Hurricane Harbor Waterpark, which features 800,000 gallons of surf and 25 waterslides.

Kings control

Got tweens and teens? Take a three hour drive to the theme park near Richmond. The park already has 13 roller coaster trains, and will introduce the Tumbili, an all-new 4D roller coaster, as part of the new Jungle X-pedition in 2022. For the little ones, there’s Snoopy Planet. Admission includes access to Soak City Waterpark.
