Family Dominion Energy Easter in Maymont
April 16, 9am-5pm, free (some activities require ticket purchase)

Tons of Easter related activities in a beautiful location. It can be crowded but it’s beautiful and I just read that they have goat babies. Baby goats are not associated with Easter at all but they are very cute.

Bring the whole family for Easter eggs and all that spring has to offer. Enjoy games, activities, and crafts, as well as live entertainment from Bach to rock and other artists, jugglers, adorable animals, and of course, the Easter bunny looks! Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the day with local food trucks and 100 acres of “collect eggs”.

Admission to Dominion Energy Family Easter is free, plus optional $2 tickets for activities and games. Every ticket redeemed earns an Easter egg and “egg-tra” rewards!

Event parking is available at Historic Estate Entrance and The Robins Nature Center. Guests can enter from any gate and join the fun at Carriage House Lawn.

African American Book Festival at the Richmond Public Library
April 16, 11am-4pm

I just heard about this festival so I can’t add much. If your near the library on a Saturday swing in.

Virginia Business Expo Associates and Richmond Public Library proudly present the first annual Richmond Festival of African American Writers.

The African American Writers Festival was created to give established and emerging authors of our culture a platform to spread the messages embedded in their icon pages. With one goal in mind, we want to educate, entertain and influence the community of Richmond through African-American literature, by highlighting the stories told in their books.

This event is a great opportunity for community members to meet and interact with their favorite black authors. There will be many distinguished authors.

Come to support black authors, meet them face to face, get photos, buy books at discounted prices, connect with other professionals, bring books back to normal, and support authors in spreading their messages.

What can you expect
This event will feature author and publisher exhibitions, author discussions, book signings, entertainment, networking and door awards. The event will attract a wide range of authors, publishers, book clubs, libraries and individual readers. The books available will be suitable for all ages; From children, teens and young adults to adults. The authors will present fiction, poetry, nonfiction, memoirs, self-help, and spiritual performances.

This event is free and open to the public. Come and enjoy this free community festival that celebrates the beauty, power, passion and excitement of written work.

Spring Camp at Hovey Stadium at Victoria University
April 16 1-4 pm

Softball and soccer together at last. Thank God not in the same field at the same time. VUU is hosting their own Spring Festival. At 1pm you can check out the women’s softball team and then follow the tiger football brawl.
